At my Mom's work

It's September 22nd and I'm ten months old today! My Lolo, Lola and Tia Monica happened to have dental appointments with my Mom and we all went to visit her.

Lights at home have always fascinated me. This one here is particularly bright.

Last days of my first summer

Today is the second to the last day of the summer of 2006. Two days from now, the fall season starts. Time to enjoy the outdoors while the weather is still mild. All the other kids are back in school. The park is all empty today, just me with my Lola and Lolo at the playground.

There's a little chill in the air. There's a hint of color in the leaves. My Lolo cannot decide whether it was warm enough to wear shorts or it was cold enough to wear a jacket so he wore a jacket with his sandals and shorts.

Look, I can now stand on my own two feet!

Oftentimes now, I try to stand on my feet. With legs spread wide apart and a toy to distract me, I can stand like this for a while. (Ten seconds...)

(Twenty seconds and I'm still up ...)

(Thirty seconds and still counting ...)

(Forty seconds and the knees start to buckle ...)

Finally, the knees gave out and I'm down on the floor. Forty seconds! that was my best time yet.

Next time, I'll have to show you how I'm starting to take my first few steps.

My first four teeth

Watch out for my teeth. I've had them for about a month now. They're very sharp and I might just use them to bite you. I bite anything and everything within reach.

First, I stalk my prey.

Then, ATTACK! No more gummy wet kisses from me. I now give bites!

Nobody's safe. I bite everybody. My Mom doesn't call me "vampire child" for nothing.

An Accidental Tourist

My Mom had a one-day course at an inn in Ile D'Orleans, an island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River just past Quebec City. While my Mom sat indoors listening to lectures, Lola Mely, Lolo Phil and I were outdoors taking in the river sights.

Meal time at the inn. Lola is still scanning the menu, trying to decide what to order for breakfast. I already know what I'm getting. I can see my Mom preparing it on my special plate.

We drove around the island. We stopped at a vineyard in the village of St. Petronille. The sign says "Please do not touch the grapes"!! (Click on the picture for a closeup.) Lolo and Lola stopped to taste some wine and buy a couple of bottles.

On the way home, we stopped by Quebec City to do more sight-seeing around the Chateau Frontenac.

I have learned to go down the stairs

First, I turn away from the stairs, get down flat on my chest and push backwards.

Then, I feel for the lower step with my toe.

I lower myself to the next step and repeat.

Before I know it, I'm down on the kitchen level ...

... and in one of my favorite places - under the dining table.
