A Giggle Across the Generation Gap

Sharing some good times with Grandpa and some not so good times. Click on picture above for video clip.

My Grandparents

People tell me I look like one of these guys. I don't know, even after looking at picture after picture, I still can't tell whom I look like. But it really doesn't matter. Among them, they have given me all the "good-look" genes that I will ever need. That's reason enough for me to smile.

Gifts from East and West Coasts

My Robeez (shoes) were made in B.C., a gift from Grandma Cyndy. The shirt is from New York City - a souvenir from Tia Monica's recent trip there. The smiles are all fom me.

Meine schoene Fraulein

This is Anya with her Dad, Joerg. She was born in Germany a few weeks before I was. Our Moms go back together a long way. They were classmates and best friends since first grade.

Anya's Mom, Julia, and my Mom when they were small - so small that together they could fit in one lawn chair.

It's good that long-distance phone rates between Canada and Germany have come down. The best friends still phone each other often and compare notes about me and Anya.

At the Patisserie Gaujacq

At a pastry shop near my Dad's workplace. We thought we'd surprise Dad and join him for lunch. The shopowner found me so cute, he gave us a couple of loaves of French bread to take home. It doesn't seem fair. He gave them because of me and I'm the one who can't eat bread yet. I still can only drink milk.

My Grandma loves shopping malls

Me and my grandparents at my usual hangout - Champlain Mall.

At my "reserved table" at the food court. My Mom and I always sit at this table because it has plenty of room around it for my baby stroller. I needed a snack after all that walking. Grandma Cyndy was just too happy to give me my bottle.

We ended the day at home by celebrating my Mom's birthday with "pancit" (rice noodles) cooked by Grandma Mely and a cheesecake made by Tia Monica.

My first trip downtown

Here we are at Place Montreal Trust. While Dad and Grandpa waited, Mom got her Starbucks vanilla latte "of leisure".

Dinner with my cousins

I met my Dad's cousins for the first time. Can't wait to grow big enough to play with them.

Me and my "classmate"

Here I am with Austin, my "classmate", and our Dads. Our parents used to go to the same pre-natal classes. Austin's Mom was expecting him about the same time my Mom was expecting me around mid-November. Austin cheated and decided to come out two weeks early while I had to be induced to come out one week after my expected date. Just for that, I will now be forever three weeks younger than him.

From time to time, Austin and I still bump against each other at the CLSC (Centre Local de Services Communautaires - such a fancy name for the community health center), where our Moms would weigh and measure us and chat with the nurse and other mothers.

My first haircut

This will be a year of many "firsts" for me. Here we go with my first haircut!

What's that buzzing sound behind my ear?

Look how my Mom holds that pair of scissors. Doesn't she remind you of someone with a syringe? "This won't hurt you." I felt so reassured, I only drooled on my Dad's shirt sleeve.

Why is it that a guy always looks a little dorky after a haircut? Grandma Mely says I now look like a "real" boy. What was I before? a Pinocchio?
