My first Christmas

It was my first Christmas morning. Everyone was excited to open their presents. I wanted some peaceful playtime, lying down and staring at my favorite ceiling fan. My cousins Guillaume and Jose had other ideas like playing peek-a-boo with me.

They had to dress me in the Santa suit again to "distribute" the presents from under the Christmas tree.

It was a crazy time. I couldn't understand why, but people kept bringing all kinds of food which I couldn't eat! While some people with sweet teeth made chocolate fondue, the others made noise anyway they could (click here to see how).

I just wanted to sleep!

The adults had a gift exchange. See my Auntie Tessie, the fashion model, strut her new duds.

Have you been a good boy this year?

I've been good! Honest, Santa! I am no trouble at all for my parents - when I'm asleep. You can even ask this reindeer guy below.

Christmas shopping

Two weeks before Christmas and I still hadn't done my shopping! "The weather outside is frightful! ..." It was true! We had snow, freezing rain and again more snow. It was about minus 10 Celsius outside but I'm Canadian, eh? Cold air that felt like sandblast in your lungs? It did not scare me. I was well wrapped up and warm in my car seat "cocoon".

We were finally indoors and my Mom had to quickly unzip my cocoon. It was just getting too hot in there, hot enough to make one want to wet his diapers.

There I was at the mall, not even eyeing chicks, just chillin' with my grandpa, makin' sure he didn't buy everything at the toy store. Shopping - phooey! it was just soooo NOT a guy thing.

La grande visite

This was my third weekend at home and my grandma's sisters came to visit me. There was some discussion as to how I should be calling them. My grandma says they are all my grandmas also. My Mom says they are my great-aunts.

Everybody wanted to carry me. Auntie Tessie wouldn't let me go and here I am completely prostrate and sound asleep across her tummy while Grandma and Auntie Varge look on.

I woke up wet and hungry. Time to boss some people around once again! Funny what I could make them do with just a little crying.

Question: what do you get when you have two nurses to change your diaper?

Answer: A lot of fussing!

Jojo: Tessie, make sure you lift and clean under his thing!

Tessie: Ate Jo, I've been a nurse for 27 years and I should know about these things!

Jojo: Hurry up, the baby is getting cold!

Tessie: Don't hurry me, I have to do my sterile technique!

And on and on and on they went. For my part, I thought I could make the situation more interesting. In the few moments between the time Auntie Tess pulled the wet diaper from under me and the time she could slide a new one, I decided I wasn't quite finished peeing yet. Whoo! Mama! It squirted past my forehead! I wet my shirt. A drop landed on the back of my hand. As is my habit when I'm hungry, and before they could stop me, I started sucking on my fist. Boy! that was some funny tasting beer!

Tia Monica feeds me from a bottle while Auntie Jojo fixes my booties and cousin Jose and Auntie Tessie crowd above me.

Now, for the easy part, after I've been changed and fed, Grandpa gets to make me burp. Tia Monica had to make us wear these funny hats!

Cousin Jose wasn't allowed to visit me at the hospital and he had long wanted to meet me. At last! Here, he finally got the chance to carry me.

Jose really tried but he seemd to have forgotten the lyrics to Jingle Bells.

But then, he soon tired of carrying me and lulling me to sleep. He went back to making Christmas cookies with Tia Monica.

And to really make the day memorable for me, this was the day the scab on my dried up umbilical cord fell off. Oh the good old days - when I was a fetus!

Don't put me face down. I might just run away!

My Dad happened to put me face down on a blanket once. I didn't quite like that position.

I tried to crawl away. Not bad for two-week old knees, huh?

Here's another short video clip of me suffering thru the hiccups. :)

Another Tuesday and I'm another week older

I'm two weeks old today. I can now stay awake as long as two hours at a time and to my parents' relief, I can even sleep four hours at a stretch at night.

Bath time

I am ten days old today

At last, on my 10th day, my grandma gets to cuddle me. She had an eye operation recently and she was not supposed to carry anything heavy. So today, I did the only thing that I could do - I promptly made pooh and wet my diaper twice - anything to make myself lighter so Grandma could carry me.
